Matt Trustrum is a Senior Advisor at Groves & Partners, with over 25 years’ of international business experience in finance, professional services and technology roles. In doing so, Matt has significant experience in advising mid-market & early-stage growth companies on transactions, growth & exit planning (Certified).

Background and Experience

Prior to joining Groves & Partners, Matt begun his career in London’s financial markets front office, he then relocated to Australia and started a HR and Technology consulting business headquartered in Sydney. Matt grew this award-winning firm, a BRW Fast 100 business, achieving a successful exit after 7 years.

Since then, leveraging his own business experience, Matt has been passionately involved in working with hundreds of founders, shareholders and business leaders to achieve their growth, acquisition, succession and exit planning goals. Further, as a Certified Exit Planning Advisor, Matt strives to remain abreast of best practice methodologies for business owners seeking transactions and exit planning advice.

More recently, Matt had integral involvement in delivering Australia’s largest business advisory and funding initiative, which assisted over 26,000 Australian mid-market and early-stage growth companies with growth initiatives such as strategy development, funding, capital investment, exit planning & acquisitions. As part of this program, over $1.4 billion of revenue was directly generated among program participants resulting in an increase of over $320 million of EBIT among advised clients.

Matt has significant experience in advising clients across all stages of the exit planning and capital transactions space, with specialist expertise in executing the sale of medium-sized private businesses in his capacity as a business broker.
