Stephen founded Groves & Partners with the ambition of partnering with businesses and their advisors to provide excellent business transaction and valuation advice.
Prior to founding Groves & Partners, Stephen was the Director of a transaction and valuation advice firm in Sydney, Australia.
Stephen is the current National Chairperson of the AIBB’s Merger and Acquisition Chapter and is a member of the Registered Business Valuer Education and Standards Committee. Stephen is also a lecturer for the Registered Business Valuer Course where he teaches the subject of Financial Analysis.
Stephen has experience in advising clients across a range of industries and business types, including but not limited to telecommunications, professional services, health and aged care, mining services and road transport.
Although Stephen has experience in all areas of business transaction advisory and valuations, Stephen’s practice focuses primarily on undertaking select business sales matters involving the execution of strategic business sales for larger businesses, and in providing business valuation expert witness support for contentious litigation matters with particular expertise in minority shareholding valuations, critiquing other valuer’s reports and opinions and preparing shadow expert reports.
Stephen has appeared in court, including the Supreme Court of NSW and Family Court of Australia as an expert witness regarding the valuation of businesses.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy and Economics), is a Licensed and Certified Practising Business Broker, a Registered Business Valuer and a Certified Minority Interest Valuer.
Stephen is passionate about what he does and frequently facilitates professional development training courses for other industry colleagues.
Stephen’s standing in his industry is such that most of his clients are referred to him from previous clients, other industry practitioners and professionals such as accountants and solicitors.
